Stoking the fire

By Cassandra Tyndall

In a world brimming with confusion and uncertainty, the week begins fresh from the Leo New Moon. This vibrant lunation may serve as a timely reminder that the foundation, facts or faith you’ve been seeking externally can only come from within. Over the next few days, pulling your energy inwards and keeping your circle close can support you in stoking your fire.

A shift in thinking is possible as Mercury changes into one of its favorite signs, helping you to take a practical and grounded approach. This shift toward the analytical invites you to take a review of the information you take in and figure out whether this supports your highest good, or not. If you notice thoughts and ideas that occupy space in your mind are weighing you down, sapping your energy or generally not making you feel good, remember that you have the option of changing your mind.

An infusion of cosmic honey arrives at the weekend as Venus enters Libra, heralding around a month-long cycle of enhanced social interaction, diplomacy and the ability to hold space for a range of diverse situations. This will be especially relieving as we move out of the tense energy that has plagued the past couple of months.

I’m currently at the beach on vacation. The daytime weather has been hot and humid with a slight cooling breeze blowing off the ocean. The nights have been hot as well, but the indoor air conditioning of our rented home is top notch, so sleeping isn’t an issue.  We awoke to dark, threatening clouds this…

Learning to drive in the 1960s

I often see a “Student Driver” car going by our house. There was no such vehicle back in the ‘60s because Mt. St Joseph Academy, where I was a student, didn’t have a driving instructor. During that era girls didn’t seem to be in any particular hurry to get their license. Boys were more eager…
