Retrograde reset begins

Cosmic Catalogue

So far, 2025 has been fraught with past memories and patterns that may have prompted old wounds to resurface.

Mars retrograde in Cancer wielded a sword and cut open our emotional tender parts. This was so we could examine them and figure out what needs to be dealt with, what needs to be healed, and what needs to be completed severed.

While the retrograde is over, Mars will linger in Cancer for another six or so weeks. It might be easy to ruminate, to spiral in oneself, replay scenarios and situations, and ask yourself why.

It’s one thing to lift the lid on the past and take a look at it. That said, we always have the choice of how much oxygen we choose to give it.

As March opens, another retrograde begins. This time around, Mars hands the baton to Venus, and she’ll move in reverse until mid-April.

On the one hand, you might be glad that one arduous retrograde is over. On the other, you may be fearing another, as Venus can be the most deeply felt retrograde of all.

This handover/takeover retrograde pattern asks you to stop asking, “Why did this happen?” and start asking, “What do I need to do?” Stop stewing on the past and start taking action toward the new and the unknown.

Some names that are rarely chosen today were popular in previous decades.  The given name that…

No patch left unskied

June 25, 2025
I’m calling it.   I drove around the long way, hoping to catch one last glimpse of the patch before we actually began hiking up into The Canyon. Partly because I wanted to see what I was getting into and partly because I wanted to make sure she was still there. I honestly wasn’t sure…

Pack up your troubles

June 25, 2025
The longest day of the year has officially come and gone, which means we are now on the slow, downhill slide toward winter.  Given that the days are currently long and the temperatures are nearing their peak, my family has opted for the traditional summer beach vacation. This is nothing new since we’ve rented a…

Life in a shell: eastern box turtle

June 25, 2025
As a budding naturalist growing up in the concrete-heavy environs of Boston, I would regularly thumb through my family’s collection of nature books and daydream about the creatures within. One species I was particularly drawn to was the eastern box turtle. These charismatic terrestrial turtles have high-domed shells festooned with colorful yellow or orange markings…
