Many moons ago, I worked for a friend in his chiropractic clinic. Patients would arrive with different ailments and injuries of varying degrees, looking for relief. For some, a quick massage, acupuncture, and manipulation were all it took to get them firing on all cylinders again. Then there were those who’d complain after their first treatment that their symptoms got much worse. Despite this being a normal part of the healing process, they’d often doubt that things could get better for them. This lack of faith usually delayed their healing process. A third variety of patient was the type that would come in routinely, yet due to their attitude, would never heal at all. It was as though they had some kind of trapped energy or memory that kept them in a negative feedback loop. If it wasn’t their hip, it was their shoulder. If they weren’t complaining about their spouse, it was the traffic to get to their appointment. The point being is that in order to heal, pain often gets worse before it gets better. In order to heal, you have to let go of that which you clung to and trust in something greater. This week, you have the chance to do just that.
Trust the process: The power of letting go to heal

Director Jeremy Workman’s documentary, “Secret Mall Apartment,” spins a crazy yarn about a group of Rhode Island street artists who, in a brazen and ingenious-level piece of establishment corporate defiance, fooled the Providence Place security for four years by building a secret apartment within a hidden nook of the mall structure. Short poles

It never felt like this before. My chest was in the right position and wasn’t getting bounced backward every few turns. My right shoulder wasn’t getting jammed into itself with every pole plant, forcing my torso up and my entire body to stretch out. That beautiful extension that forces me to then retract everything while…
A cut above

Only three people have ever cut my hair: There was the older gentleman that my mother brought me to when I was young. Then there was the son of my dad’s barber, who cut my hair for decades. And finally, there’s the guy I’ve been going to for the last several years. I especially liked…
