Truth in Wisdom

Many, many moons ago, someone told me that relationships end the way they begin. At the time, I remember thinking that was such a cynical attitude. It was like predicting the bitter end at the beginning when things should feel magical.

I’m much older and wiser now, and I do have to admit there was some truth in that wisdom. Not that I’d recommend approaching life with that philosophy, but it is something to be aware of.

This week sees us cross the threshold into a new month, the one that will bookend 2024. Funnily enough, trickster planet Mercury embarks upon a retrograde journey at the exact same point in the sky where it ended once as the year began.

Thus, that old piece of wisdom I got, again, rings true. Something about how this year began will be exactly how it ends. We now live in a world where reality has lost its meaning. Where ethics and morality appear to have vanished. The gap between what you’re told and what you know is true has never been wider.

If you found yourself lost in the crowd and unable to speak your mind, maybe it’s time you get your voice back before it’s too late.

Short poles

May 7, 2025
It never felt like this before. My chest was in the right position and wasn’t getting bounced backward every few turns. My right shoulder wasn’t getting jammed into itself with every pole plant, forcing my torso up and my entire body to stretch out. That beautiful extension that forces me to then retract everything while…

A cut above

May 7, 2025
Only three people have ever cut my hair: There was the older gentleman that my mother brought me to when I was young. Then there was the son of my dad’s barber, who cut my hair for decades. And finally, there’s the guy I’ve been going to for the last several years. I especially liked…
