Living in retrograde

By Cassandra Tyndall

As we cross the threshold from September to October, we’ll get a sense of how the month to come promises movement and momentum.

Before that happens, Mercury will hit the brakes and head in reverse for its third and final retrograde of 2021.

In the sign of Libra, this retrograde phase may invite you to reconsider information and conversations, as well as your ideas about what relationships mean to you.
Whether it’s your most intimate connections, your friendships or other affectionate bonds you share with certain people, the extent to which you adapt, adjust and compromise may need to change. The funny thing about “people pleasing” — and let’s face it, we all do it to a certain extent — is really just manipulating someone else’s perception of you.

If nothing else, this retrograde phase of Mercury, until Oct. 18, will encourage you to get to the truth of the matter. Lies, deceit and misinformation in all areas are likely to surface and be revealed for what they really are. It may get a little unpleasant at first, but you’ll need to discover the tipping point before equilibrium can be restored.

Short poles

May 7, 2025
It never felt like this before. My chest was in the right position and wasn’t getting bounced backward every few turns. My right shoulder wasn’t getting jammed into itself with every pole plant, forcing my torso up and my entire body to stretch out. That beautiful extension that forces me to then retract everything while…

A cut above

May 7, 2025
Only three people have ever cut my hair: There was the older gentleman that my mother brought me to when I was young. Then there was the son of my dad’s barber, who cut my hair for decades. And finally, there’s the guy I’ve been going to for the last several years. I especially liked…
