Can you handle the truth?

By Cassandra Tyndall

Do you remember the iconic scene from the movie, “A Few Good Men,” when the character played by Tom Cruise goes on a relentless search for the truth behind a murdered Marine? After weeks of investigating, probing and being guided by instinct, the dramatic climax in the courtroom is a movie scene for the ages. While questioning the actions of the character played by Jack Nicholson, Cruise had to cross a line. Risking being held in contempt of court and any other consequences that may ensue, his deep desire to find the truth guided him like a dog with a bone. He hounded Nicholson until his question was answered.

The famous line, “You can’t handle the truth,” is now cemented in movie history. This week, as Mercury continues its sojourn through the murky depths of Scorpio and opposes Uranus for the third and final time, a truth may be revealed. The fact is, you probably already know what that truth is. The need to have the words spoken, heard or understood can be the first step in a profound shift that can lead to healing. The question might be, once you hear those words, can you handle them?
