Poetry is Power: Dogs are friends forever

Dogs,

Are friends,

Are love,

Are happiness,

Are fun,

Are companions.

Dogs are amazing,

They are so important to our lives,

They brighten things up when it gets dark.

They are always our friends,

They listen to us,

They are always positive and wanting to play,

They tell us that everyone needs a friend,

And it’s the truth,

We all need a friend in this world,

And dogs are great at being friends.

Maybe they are trying to teach us a lesson,

Trying to tell us,

That everyone needs a friend,

And we can help with that,

We can be,

Kind and caring,

Thoughtful and patient,

We can be friends,

Just like the dogs,

Because dogs are,

Friends forever.

We all do dumb things in our 20s, right? When you are testing the boundaries of life to see which lines are flexible and which are legit. But in your 20s, you don’t have any experience in life, and you certainly cannot imagine listening to those who went before you. You might not mean to…

The young and the restless

Many years ago, when my son was a budding teenager, I got into a heated debate with him after coming home from baseball practice. The details are foggy, but my recollection is that I was disappointed with his effort that day, so I lectured him about the benefits of focus and hard work. I’ll admit…
