WRJ VA Employee Assoc. hosts Halloween, harvest decorating contest in lieu of annual Trunk-or-Treat event

The White River Junction VA Employee Association has traditionally hosted a trunk-or-treat event at the end of October, but this year the association felt it important to continue the spooky spirit in a socially distant way: a decorating contest!

The White River Junction VA (WRJ VA) Employee Association is a non-profit comprised of current and retired VA employees that live in the Twin States. Their mission is to contribute substantially to the overall morale and welfare of the WRJ VA employees by promoting unity and fellowship among all employees through planning, sponsoring, and conducting family friendly activities that foster and promote a positive employee and community culture. Events like the association’s annual Trunk-or-Treat event boost morale both for employees and the community.

This year Halloween is slightly different than what we’re used to. With social distancing and everyone’s health in consideration, the WRJ VA Employee Association cancelled this year’s annual Trunk-or-Treat event. So, to get everyone in the spirit of spooky season, they’ve decided to host a Halloween and harvest decorating contest.

“Our Trunk-or-Treat event has been a fan favorite since 2017!” said Katherine Tang, board member for the association. “Each year the competition grew as did the crowds, but this year we had to think about creative ways to keeping our community safe while connected.”

To enter the contest, you must utilize Facebook. Simply tag the White River Junction VA Employees Association (@WRJEA) in your Halloween/harvest decoration photos or send them a photo directly on messenger. They will then post your creations on their Facebook page (facebook.com/WRJEA) for everyone to vote on. There will be a grand prize for the winner!

Place your submissions by Oct. 29. The winner will be announced on
Halloween.
