VSC presents Cherie Jones

Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. — VIRTUAL — Vermont Studio Center (VSC) announces a special featured reading with author Cherie Jones. The reading will take place on Thursday, Feb. 10, 7-9 p.m. on Zoom, as a part of the Visiting Writer program. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. A private Zoom link will be provided.

Cherie Jones is a writer from Barbados whose short fiction has been published in Reflex Fiction, The Feminist Wire, PANK and Eclectica, and broadcast on BBC Radio 4. She is an alumnus of the MA Writing Programme at Sheffield Hallam University where she was awarded the Archie Markham Award and the AM Heath Prize. She is a 2015 fellowship awardee of the Vermont Studio Centre. Her first novel, “How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House,” was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2021.

“Cherie Jones’s work is exceptional, and we are thrilled to host a special virtual reading next month to feature it,” says Sarah Audsley, host of the Virtual VSC event. “It is extra special to invite Jones back to VSC as she was a fellowship recipient in May 2015. She told us portions of her novel, ‘How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House,’ were written during her residency at VSC.”
