Tour de Slate raised $64K

Dear Editor,

Yep! You read it right! The 2021 ride itself raised $32,000 and then it was matched by a generous anonymous donor! So total benefit to Teen Challenge is $64,000!

Thank you! Thank You! and again Thank You!

Your kindness and generosity will obviously go a long way in helping to change lives from the inside out!

The event continued this year as a hybrid event. Our rider base and fundraisers can now be located literally anywhere. This allows riders to not only connect with Tour de Slate but also to be able to raise funds. Because of Covid19, Teen Challenge has been greatly effected in their own fund raising efforts.

The Tour de Slate, a bicycle ride that raises funds for Teen Challenge Vt., the rides are all centered around Middletown Springs and the neighboring towns.

The Tour de Slate is made up of four different routes designed to provide an enjoyable ride no matter what your level of experience. The most challenging ride, for avid road cyclists, is the metric century (100km, 63.4 mile) ride. The additional choices of a  36 mile route, a 25 mile route or a family ride (off road on a trail) ensures that there is a ride suitable for everyone. The ‘Tour de Slate’ is aptly named as it tours the world renowned slate valley of western Vermont and bordering NY state.

Why Teen Challenge?

Vermont has one of the the highest illicit drug usage rates in the nation.

According to some surveys,Teen Challenge is the most successful drug and alcohol abuse recovery program in the nation. It is totally funded by private donations and other fund raising events.

Teen Challenge has a three pronged approach to ending addiction:

1. The End Addiction Campaign

2. Residential program

3. Women’s refuge
