Thomas Ketcham, a retired history teacher at Otter Valley Union High School, celebrated winning $10,000 when the Publishers Clearing House prize patrol rolled up to surprise him at his home in Middlebury on March 11. Ketcham immediately phoned his wife, Judith, who at first didn’t believe he had won. “Don’t be so silly,” she said. When the PCH representative Howard Guja, who had arrived with the big check, flowers and balloons, asked what she would do with the prize, she said, “It’s his money, he can do whatever he likes.” Mr. Ketcham said some of it might go toward a trip to visit family in Florida.
