Coaches corner: Body Transformation Challenge push to Independence Day

By Beth Roberts

We are back with a new group of challenge participants with new goals and obstacles to overcome. Over the next six weeks we will individually help them transform their lifestyles just in time for Independence Day. Beginning this Tuesday, May 26, three males and three females from the area will embark on our summer fitness challenge.

As the days get longer and warmer, winter layers are shed and spring brings a new energy to our region as the skis and snowboards are packed in and bikes, hiking boots, paddleboards and golf clubs are brought out. Our region is a year round outdoor playground and we look forward to getting this new group outside for some fun workouts as we coach them toward achieving their goals.

I am looking forward to getting to know each of the new participants and helping them achieve their personal health and fitness goals over the next six weeks. Follow their stories and our fitness and nutrition tips with us for your own inspiration and motivation.

Short poles

It never felt like this before. My chest was in the right position and wasn’t getting bounced backward every few turns. My right shoulder wasn’t getting jammed into itself with every pole plant, forcing my torso up and my entire body to stretch out. A cut above

Only three people have ever cut my hair: There was the older gentleman that my mother brought me to when I was young. Then there was the son of my dad’s barber, who cut my hair for decades. And finally, there’s the guy I’ve been going to for the last several years. I especially liked…
