Art in the Park fall foliage fest this weekend

Views from the 2019 Chaffee Art Center’s 59th Annual Art in the Park Fall Foliage Festival. The 2020 festival will be revamped for safety and social distancing.

Oct. 10-11 at 10 a.m.—RUTLAND—Chaffee Art Center’s 59th annual Art in the Park Fall Foliage Festival will take place Oct. 10-11 in Rutland’s Main Street Park at the Junction of Routes 4 and 7.  Juried fine artists, craftspeople, and specialty food producers will be featured.  Rounding out the festival are food vendors, live music, and demonstrations of works in progress held throughout the weekend.  Hours: Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note changes below to ensure a safe and successful event.  A voluntary donation is appreciated.

Chaffee invites everyone to visit this fun event. Attendees will enjoy the variety of stunning and unique handcrafts and fine art that will be on exhibit and available for purchase at the outdoor festival.  The visual arts are represented by a selection of oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, and photographs.  A full array of crafts will be featured:  pottery; fiber items such as shawls, scarves, wraps, quilted items, children’s wearables; hand painted glasswear and stained glass; variety of jewelry; metal sculptures, tables, fire pits, garden art; wooden furniture, bowls, cutting boards and mirrors: aromatherapy and herbal products; goat soaps, lotions, herb mixes; hand lettered cards, prints, apparel and stickers; natural stone oil lamps, and more!

There will be food concessions selling their delicious food both days, including Rollin’ Rooster, who will have a full menu of delicious chicken items, with vegetarian options such as sweet potato and white bean burger and green beans with slaw and waffle fries. Specialty food producers will tempt your taste buds with samples of fudge, kettle corn, maple cotton candy, and maple products.

Opening the festival with live music on Saturday will be Melissa D, followed by Moose Crossing, and Dirty Red Hearts.  Sunday will open with Dirty Red Hearts followed by Moose Crossing.

Back again this year are Chaffee Bucks.  They will be handed out to a lucky attendee every half hour throughout each day.  Winners can spend the Chaffee Bucks during the festival weekend at any booth in the park.

Art in the Park…pandemic style! will look a bit different.

Limit of 150 people in Main Street Park at a time (not including volunteers, staff, or exhibitors).

Booths will be at least 6 feet apart.

Arrows will direct visitors on one-way flow.

Masks are required to be worn by everyone while at the Festival.

No kids’ activities or public portable toilets will be offered.

Vendors will be offering food, but without seating to encourage attendees to move through the festival.

Musical performers will be in the gazebo, which will be roped off.

Dogs must be on leashes and practice social distancing.

Curbside pick-up will be offered for those not comfortable attending by purchasing from a specific exhibitor on their website ahead of time.  Find a full list of exhibitors on chaffeeartcenter.org.

A silent auction online will be held as well.  There will be a link on chaffeeartcenter.org to bid on handmade art and crafts.
