Vito Rasenas’ letter in the Aug. 13-19 edition of The Mountain Times is right on the money. The Killington Selectboard and town manager have been slowly and methodically trying to eliminate the “Slip Road.” This started well over a year ago with a suggestion by one of the selectmen to create a park at the center island for people to walk to and gather. Ha! Try that in the winter.
I have checked with our constable and there have been no accidents on the road, except for an occasional driver sliding off due to snow and/or ice. The elimination of the road would cause a traffic debacle beyond belief. Think about the weekends after 3:30 p.m. when the mad rush starts. There will be tieups for miles at the West Hill light. When this preposterous idea came about well over a year ago, Vito Rasenas and I circulated a petition and presented it to the town manager and board.
They’re trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Don’t be fooled by them. The elimination of the “Slip Road” is a disaster waiting to happen. Those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to read Vito’s comments, please do so. It will open your eyes.
