I’m voting David Singer for assistant judge

Dear Editor,

My friend David Singer is running for assistant judge, a position he held for eight years before retiring in 2012 to be a grandfather and resume his position in the family business as a producer on Broadway. The man has incredible energy and I might note that he and his group won more than 20 Tony Awards. As Covid closed Broadway down, Singer sold his share of the business to spend his future back in his beloved Vermont where he has lived for the last 50 years.

David graduated from Bates College with a B.A. in economics. He also graduated from the full-time officer’s certification at the Vermont Police Academy. He served as a detective sergeant on the child sexual task force in Burlington. As a Director on the board of VT Volunteer Services for Animals, David showed his concern for the welfare of animals when needed to advocate on their behalf. Working with former State’s Attorney Bobby Sand, and VVSA, the addition of animals in the municipal ticketing system was created. The Office of State’s Attorneys is often overwhelmed with cases, and the ability of law enforcement to address animal abuse and neglect can now be handled with the citation of a ticket.

David Singer and Bobby Sand worked on reenactments of domestic violence scenarios presented for classes composed of law enforcement and domestic violence advocates. Extending his concern for victims, he acted as a speaker before women’s groups such as WISE in both Windsor and Orange Counties.

He attended the Vermont Law School in order to preside over civil cases in several counties throughout the state. Singer said he would love to again use the skills he acquired while sitting on the bench.

I know him to be a caring man whose heart is in the service of the public, was a good cop, and a caring judge.

Greg Skaskiw,
Bridgewater
