It’s kitten season at the RCHS

As spring begins, and the weather begins to warm, we are starting to see more and more kittens come through our doors that are too young to be adopted just yet. Interested in becoming a foster parent with RCHS? We especially need foster homes for momma cats with nursing kittens, orphaned newborns, and young cats that are eating on their own. Your generosity will allow these little ones to grow strong and healthy so they can be placed in forever homes. If interested, please contact Sue at 483-6700 or visit rchsvt.org. If you are unable to foster, but still want to help, some items our kittens need include: KMR kitten formula, kitten nursing bottles, chicken or turkey baby food, cat beds and toys, pate canned kitten food, small soft stuffed animals, small animal heating pads, fleece blankets, and monetary donations and/or gift cards. Any donations can be dropped off in our donation bin in front of our building at 765 Stevens Road.

Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT • (802) 483-6700 • Tues. – Sat. 12-5p.m. Closed Sun. & Mon. • www.rchsvt.org

Rita is a 1 year old kitty that traveled from Georgia to find her purrfect home! Rita is doing very well with her feline roommates. Once she settles into her environment she is a very sweet cat and eager to show you her amazing purr. If interested, fill out an application on our website spfldhumane.org. Once approved, we will set up a time for you to meet her.

I’m a 1-year-old spayed lop mix. I hopped in from another shelter. I’m a shy girl working on building trust with people and I’ve come a far way in a short amount of time. I am so curious about things! I love to play with cardboard and brown paper bags and jump around with them in my mouth. I can be a bit more vocal than my other bunny friends, I make a huffing sound when I get a nervous or stressed. A nice, quiet home would be so wonderful.

 What’s in a name?

June 25, 2025
There’s nothing like a talk show to spark an idea for a column. Hosts Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, recently discussed how people’s first names often serve as clues to the decade in which they were born. Some names that are rarely chosen today were popular in previous decades.  The given name that…

No patch left unskied

June 25, 2025
I’m calling it.   I drove around the long way, hoping to catch one last glimpse of the patch before we actually began hiking up into The Canyon. Partly because I wanted to see what I was getting into and partly because I wanted to make sure she was still there. I honestly wasn’t sure…

Pack up your troubles

June 25, 2025
The longest day of the year has officially come and gone, which means we are now on the slow, downhill slide toward winter.  Given that the days are currently long and the temperatures are nearing their peak, my family has opted for the traditional summer beach vacation. This is nothing new since we’ve rented a…
