I am writing to share my family’s ongoing struggle with Vermont’s judicial system and to raise awareness about the consequences of impaired driving.
Almost 4 years ago, my wife’s life was forever changed when she was involved in a head-on collision caused by a man under the influence. While she continues to suffer from debilitating migraines and loss of vision in her left eye, the man responsible remains free, walking our streets without facing any consequences of his actions.
It is heartbreaking to watch my wife endure daily pain while the individual who caused her trauma appears to carry on with absolutely no accountability.
This raises serious concerns about how such cases are handled and the broader issue of drug-impaired driving in our community. Families like ours should not have to fight for justice while struggling with the physical and emotional toll of an incident that was entirely preventable.
I urge our community leaders, law enforcement, and judicial system to take stronger action against drug-impaired driving. The devastation it leaves behind is real, and the lack of accountability only adds to the suffering of victims and their families. I also encourage your readers to advocate for stricter measures and better support for those affected by reckless, drug-impaired drivers.
I hope this letter can spark a conversation about the need for justice, accountability, and greater awareness of the dangers of fentanyl-related impaired driving.
