Rock band O.A.R. will headline a robust music and entertainment lineup when the 2016 Audi FIS Ski World Cup comes to Vermont’s largest ski area on Nov. 26-27, with a free concert immediately following Saturday’s races.
Admission for race spectators and concertgoers is free of charge.
Celebrating the band’s 20th anniversary, O.A.R. recently released a new album, “XX,” through Vanguard Records. The album includes a career-spanning collection of O.A.R.’s biggest hits and incredible live shows plus new studio material.
On the docket for their Killington performance are high energy fan favorites such as “Crazy Game of Poker,” “Two Hands Up,” and “This Town.” They are sure to inspire athletes and spectators alike.
“We are thrilled to add O.A.R. to the full weekend of festivities for this November’s World Cup races,” said Mike Solimano, president and general manager of Killington Resort.
O.A.R. (short for Of A Revolution) is classified as an American rock, jam band. It was founded in 1996 and has since released eight studio albums. The band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Marc Roberge, drummer Chris Culos, guitarist Richard On, bassist Benj Gershman and saxophonist/guitarist Jerry DePizzo.
Four of the band members graduated from Wootton High School in Rockville, Md., then moved to Columbus, Ohio, to attend Ohio State University. They met Jerry DePizzo while at OSU. He joined the band as the saxophonist, completing the current lineup.
O.A.R. is well known for its lively performances that have attracted sold out audiences to iconic venues across North America. The band has an extensive following built initially from an extensive touring schedule as well as a string of hit singles.
Earlier albums produced by the band featured tracks inspired by reggae, ska, and jam band sounds, whereas later albums featured songs with shorter run-times, less acoustic instrumentation, and more pop-inspired arrangements.
Most recently the band announced the release of a career-spanning compilation to coincide with their 20th anniversary. The album, entitled “XX,” was released Aug. 5, 2016.
