Dear Editor,
After serving in the longest legislative session in memory, State Senator Cheryl Hooker is running again to continue working for Rutland County and all Vermonters. I, for one, am glad we have an incumbent who is rock solid and understands Vermont’s strengths and weaknesses. She is poised to reach across the aisle and work hard for the good of us all!
Hooker has worked to help businesses and workers to keep our economy in a position to come out of the pandemic stronger and more resilient and just. She has supported legislation to increase broadband, childcare, food security, and higher education to make Vermont a place where we all thrive. As many know, Vermont’s population has been dwindling for years , which has an adverse effect on the economy. Hooker understands the pandemic provides us with a unique opportunity to bring individuals and families here who are looking for a safe environment to live their lives. This can only help our economy.
Over the years Rutland County has been well served by the various roles she has taken from serving on the Rutland City Aldermanic Board, House of Representatives, Senate, Rutland Free Library, The Rutland Community Cupboard, Rutland Dismas House and her church.
What impresses me the most about Hooker though is that she walked 500 miles on the El Camino in Spain two years ago. It demonstrates a woman who sets a goal, works hard and succeeds. That’s the type of person I want representing me in Montpelier!
