Dear Editor,
I would like to correct your statement in relation to the Summit Lodge Resort’s press release.
Your paper incorrectly stated: “Summit Lodge owner Emmett O’Dwyer issued a statement explaining that O’Dwyer’s Bar & Restaurant, which started operating in early August, will close and remain closed through the ski season out of an abundance of caution.”
Factual Summit Lodge statement: “The Summit Lodge Hotel has been closed for lodging to the public, and remains so, since the 16th of March. O’Dwyer’s Bar & Restaurant has been operating since early August; although not mandated by the State Health Department, the Summit Lodge management team has independently made the decision to not reopen O’Dwyer’s for the remainder of this season in an abundance of caution to protect upcoming events and our winter ski season.”
Halting rumors regarding the August event hosted by the Summit Lodge Resort: We will reopen December 2020. The private, paid event was solely an outdoor gathering, lasting 4 hours.
No guests stayed at the hotel. The hotel has been closed since March 16th 2020. All Summit Lodge Resort staff was tested negative for Covid-19. No member of the Karr Group staff worked our event.
Per Vermont’s Health Department, the Summit Lodge Resort applied all the appropriate safeguards and met all Vermont state mandated guidelines. In an abundance of caution to protect our winter ski season, the Summit Lodge Resort management team independently made the decision to close for the remainder of thesummer/fall season.
The Summit Lodge team would like to thank local business owners and the Killington community for their support during these unprecedented times. We are looking forward to welcoming our guests this ski season, once again. Regards,
Emmett O’Dwyer, Killington, (owner of Summit Lodge)
