Thanks to the volunteer emergency workers

Dear Editor,

On Dec. 29, 2015 there was a fatal car crash in Killington on Route 4 near the junction of Route 100 that involved the death of three people. It involved a tractor trailer headed east and an SUV headed west. The crashed occurred around 3 p.m. Local Killington fire fighters and police were on the scene starting from 3 p.m. and stayed way into the night. Authorities said seven people were involved in the crash, which was largely caused by the first winter storm of the season. Killington really needed the snow as the ski season was off to a slow start and now this accident glooms around town.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul, one of the firefighters with the Killington Fire department who has been involved for over 10 years. He is the second generation of his family with Killington. These volunteer positions are important and firefighters risk their lives to do a job that is both dangerous and difficult. They support our community and keep us safe. It takes great dedication and I wanted to thank all of the Killington firefighters that were on the scene.  It should not go overlooked. All that these volunteers do is valued and greatly appreciated.

Andrea Weymouth, Killington

I believe that trust in local government begins with clear standards and clear enforcement. Killington’s current conflict of interest policy, adopted in 2019, provides a useful foundation. However, it lacks the tools to ensure…

Dear Editor, Since I announced my candidacy, many residents have spoken to me about their concerns for Killington. Taxes and education funding, for example, are often mentioned. Not surprisingly, everyone agrees that taxes need to be controlled and education funding needs to be solved. Virtually everyone has spoken to me about how the town is…
