Illusions shattered

By Cal Garrison, a.k.a. Mother of the Skye

This week’s Horoscopes are coming out under the light of a Leo Moon, with short and long term aspects that include the Sun and Saturn, in a hard Square to the planet Neptune. Translating this configuration into laymen’s terms it comes down to confronting our illusions and doing whatever it takes to get real. This is so much easier said than done. Just when we think we’ve seen everything for what it is, life reminds us that we are totally deluded about all of it. Believe it or not, this is how we grow.

You don’t need an astrologer to tell you we’re in the middle of a shit-storm. Pardon my French, but the backdrop square between Uranus and Pluto that has been kicking our butts since 2008, is still in play. This is what I call the ‘Molotov Cocktail’ transit. To paint a clearer picture, think of lightening striking an oil well; think of gas and electricity dancing in the dark; think of things that have been buried for eons suddenly being exhumed in a firestorm that erases everything but the Truth.

If you’ve been feeling like things are totally over the top and off the rails, it’s because they are! And this hard square between Saturn and Neptune is a cyclical event that inevitably calls us to wipe the slate clean and look at what’s right there in front of us — or be swallowed up by our beliefs and any illusions we might have about who we are and what we’re doing.

To dissect this: Saturn is totally realistic. For thousands of reasons, he and Neptune are not on the same page. Picture the God of pain and restriction in the same room with the God of unearthly beauty and unconditional love; how would that work on a day when the part of Neptune that holds space for our Rose Colored Glasses meets up with the Grim Reaper, who is in no mood to be lenient, or even kind about the fact that we are living on Fantasy Island?

What it comes down to is having every single one of our illusions shattered; make no bones about it. This is where getting real gets complicated (and dramatic) the tendency to whine, and cry, and blame, and shake our fists at God is huge under this influence. When life gets like this it helps to remember one simple thing: the road to enlightenment is paved with disillusionment.

This Saturn-Neptune thing is bound to get messy. We need to keep our eyes peeled right through December. If we can get real enough, and big enough, to get down to the last thing we want to see, what will be left at the end of the day will be real enough, and authentic enough to last forever. Keep that in mind, and enjoy this week’s ‘scopes.

I had already been working as an astrologer for 20 years when I got invited to write this weekly column. It started out as a radio broadcast on WEBK, in Killington, Vermont.
