Vermont Days are an annual invitation to visitors and Vermonters to explore Vermont’s excellent fishing, state parks, and historic culture for free!
On June 13-14, Vermont State Park day areas and state-owned historic sites will be open at no charge. Saturday is free fishing day – the one day of the summer when anyone can fish anywhere in Vermont without a license.
The annual program promotes recreational fishing in Vermont by offering a day of fishing without a fishing license to both residents and non-residents.
“With over 800 lakes and ponds, over 7,000 miles of rivers and streams, and 91 different species of fish, Vermont is a destination for anglers of all types, said Louis Porter, commissioner of Vermont Fish & Wildlife. “Whether you’re catching panfish on a family trip or hauling in the trout of a lifetime with your close friend, Vermont has what you’re looking for.”
Vermont’s landscape and diverse waterways support healthy populations of both warm and cold water fish, which provide for high quality angling opportunities and fun outdoor experiences.

- June 13: Scrapbooking Afternoon at Hubbardton Battlefield
Kids and the young at heart are invited to create and decorate scrapbooks and journals to record their family history. Materials will be provided. 1-3 p.m.
- June 13: Special Vermont Days Talk: “How the Hubbards Helped Spread Windsor’s Fame,” Old Constitution House, Windsor, Vt.
John Alexander, Curator at the American Precision Museum introduces a new exhibit and talks about the inventions and manufacturing facilities of the Windsor family. 2 p.m.
- June 13: Mount Independence History Program
Learn about winter soldiering on Mount Independence in this presentation by Mike Barbieri, longtime re-enactor of the American Revolution. 2-3:30 p.m.
- June 14: Flag Day at Hubbardton Battlefield
Site interpreter Carl Fuller will give a short presentation on the history of the American flag, followed by kids’ flag activities.1-3 pm.
- June 14: Justin Smith Morrill Historic Site Open House
Come tour the house, stroll the trails and listen to live music on the veranda. Michael Clough of the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum will host a “Vermont Wildlife: Live Animal Program.” Strafford, Vt. 2-4 p.m.
- June 14: Photo Scavenger Hunt at Quechee State Park
Join an exciting scavenger hunt in the park. 10 a.m.
