Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. — POULTNEY — Barry Estabrook, one of the leading voices in the sustainable agriculture movement, will make a public presentation at Green Mountain College Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m.
Estabrook is a three-time James Beard Award-winning author, investigative journalist, and blogger for “Politics of the Plate.” Among his books is “Pig Tales: An Omnivore’s Guide to Sustainable Meat,” a deep examination of pork farming. His 2011 book “Tomatoland: How Modern Industrial Agriculture Destroyed Our Most Alluring Fruit,” describes how modern industrial agriculture has ruined the tomato in terms of its taste and how it is raised. The book was a New York Times bestseller, won a Farmworker Justice Award, and inspired the 2014 documentary “Food Chains.”
His presentation is free and open to the pubic and will be held in Terrace 124 (the rear of Ames Hall). Green Mountain College is located on Brennan Circle, Poultney.
