Vermont Troopers Association endorses Kennedy for Rutland County State’s Attorney

RUTLAND — With less than 40 days until the Nov. 4 general election, the Vermont Troopers Association has endorsed Rose Kennedy for the position of Rutland County State’s Attorney.

“We are endorsing Rose Kennedy because she is a proven leader in the community, the court room, and a team player among law enforcement professionals in upholding Vermont laws and prosecuting cases,” said Mike O’Neill, President of the Vermont Troopers Association. The Vermont Troopers’ Association is the exclusive bargaining agent for the troopers, corporals, and sergeants, including detectives, of the Vermont State Police.

“I am very excited to have the backing from the Vermont Troopers Association,” Kennedy said. “I’m excited to continue to work with them in developing strong cases and protecting our community. Law enforcement is the group that I work most closely with and they know best the skills that I bring to the position.”

According to Kennedy, the position of Rutland County State’s Attorney works alongside law enforcement through out the investigative process, especially on felony cases. She added that “developing a case is a team process, and I’m excited to work with their team.”

Rutland resident Rose Kennedy has been a prosecutor for eight years.  She started as a prosecutor in Chittenden County in 1999 where she was in charge of that county’s sexual assaults and severe child abuse cases. She was a deputy state’s attorney in Rutland, handling a variety of cases, including second degree homicide, until June, 2014.  Currently, she is an assistant attorney general.

Rutland Mayor Christopher Louras has also publicly endorsed Kennedy.
