Sunday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m. — RUTLAND — On Sunday, May 17,  the Otter Valley Aquarium Society (OVAS) will hold its annual fundraising auction and bowl show in the Governor’s Room at the Rutland / Killington Holiday Inn. This event is free and open to the public.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for bidder registration, delivery of auction lots, and a preview of the exotic fish up for bid, as well as for set up for the bowl show. The auction begins at noon. The Inn is located on US Rte. 7 just south of the city of Rutland, 476 Holiday Drive.

Most of the 500+ auction fish have been bred and raised by local hobbyists and represent species not readily available in local pet shops. The auction also includes aquatic plants, fish food, new and used aquarium equipment, as well as raffles and door prizes.

The annual bowl show is an opportunity to show off your best fish and compete for the prize money ($100 first prize). The bowl show is open to all. Fish entered must be displayed in a bowl or tank with at least one flat side. No aquarium decorations, sand, gravel, or plants are allowed; air pump and bubbler are allowed. Winners will be chosen by vote of those attending the show. Full details and official rules are on the OVAS website.
