Trail of the week: The Cable Trail

By Anthony Accurso, Alpine Bike Works

“Trail 18,” also known as “The Cable Trail,” is a local favorite at Killington Resort. Located between the South Ridge and Stash areas, “The Cable Trail” is a short, technical line which is divided into three sections: upper, middle and lower.

After one crosses the namesake cable at the trail entrance (an artifact from an old chair lift) the fun begins with a hip jump landing toward right, then runs out towards the next set of features. In the middle section, riders navigate tight switchbacks before crossing the ski trail to the lower section. In the lower section biker will find small natural rock jumps challenging one to jump farther down the trail on each lap.

A video of the 0.2 mile trail can be found at www.killington.com/site/mountain/conditions/dor/mountain_bike_trail_report.html
