Trail of the week: Svelte Tiger

By Tony Accurso, Owner of Alpine Bike Works

“Svelte Tiger” in the Pine Hills trail system is one of the main arteries of the network. It is accessed at the first intersection on “Escalator” from the parking lot, and is the most popular way to access the network. It is a tight and twisty trail which switches back and forth as it gently ascends toward the “Droopy Muffin” intersection, over a man-made curved, ramped bridge, on terrain, which begs to be pumped as much as peddled. As much fun as this trail is ascending, it is most fun descending. Climb it at the beginning of the ride, but save something for the end! Jump all the little hits, rail the berms, or drop “Aaron’s Air,” a 4-foot rock drop off the side of the trail.

Connect this with “Droopy Muffin” to the “Overlook Trail” to Rocky Pond.
