Wednesday, Nov. 30 — KILLINGTON —The Town of Killington Dept. of Parks and Recreation is seeking donations for a new outdoor ice skating rink at the Johnson Recreation Center. The rink is 50 feet by 90 feet, with enough room to accommodate adult, family, and children’s programs. It will be open to the community in just a few weeks.
To prepare for the rink, the Recreation Department is updating its outdoor lighting to allow the public to skate until 8 p.m. Additionally, the pool house will be rearranged to becoming a warming hut for family and friends to gather. Aside from open skate, the department will organize programs such as youth learn to skate and adult hockey leagues. They are currently seeking financial sponsors to make the rest of the project possible.
Contributions will help supplement program costs, additional warming hut amenities, and ice resurfacing to maintain the quality of the skateable surface.
Please consider supporting this new project with a $400 sponsorship. This will include a banner of your business logo or personal message displayed on the tennis court fence throughout the winter skating season.
Killington Parks and Recreation is excited to share its 2022-2023 winter brochure and announce a very dynamic winter season. Some favorites are returning this year after a long COVID break including youth basketball and adult open gym (with two nights of pickleball). They are also pleased to reveal the addition of a new outdoor ice skating rink at the Johnson Recreation Center. Thanks to a team of volunteers and generous donations, the rink will likely be open in early December, weather dependent. We are still seeking donations of time and money to help finish the project, so please check out our program brochure for ways to help.
