Theater in the Woods receives grand, gives public performance

Friday, July 8 at 2:15 p.m. — MIDDLETOWN SPRINGS — Theater in the Woods Vermont recently received a $2,500 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation’s Small and Inspiring grant program. The grant will help further Theater in the Woods’ mission of creating community through highly imaginative outdoor children’s theater.

“We are deeply grateful for the Small and Inspiring fund’s support,” says Melissa Chesnut-Tangerman, one of Theater in the Woods’ three directors. “We worked with SolarFest for 17 years, and with this launch as a stand-alone camp, we look forward to building a fun and joyous contribution to our surrounding communities for years to come.”

Theater in the Woods is a beloved aspect of SolarFest. The two-week camp for participants ages 8-14 will bring to life a Frank Asch play and a completely original play created by the campers.  A public performance of the camp’s work will be held on Friday, July 8 at 2:15 p.m., at Burnham Hollow Orchard, 30 Orchard Road in Middletown Springs. One of the productions will be showcased at SolarFest at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester on July 15 and 16.

Through its Small and Inspiring grants program, the Community Foundation hopes to help foster the spark and hope that keeps Vermonters healthy and happy by finding and supporting projects where a small grant can make a big difference.
