“Swimming Lessons Save Lives”: UVAC hosts worldwide, one-day swim lesson

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION—On Friday, June 24, swimmers at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center joined thousands of kids and families at aquatic facilities and waterparks around the globe for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), according to a July 11 release.

Host locations in Vermont included Smugglers Notch Resort and Upper Valley Aquatic Center, which had 34 swimmers participate.

The record-breaking annual event helps draw attention to drowning, one of the leading causes in injury-related deaths of children ages 1-5 in the United States. WLSL is presented by the World Waterpark Association and the Red Cross and is supported by a plethora of swim clubs, swim schools, swimming professionals, associations and foundations, worldwide.
