Gina Bullard gets a bird’s eye view of the Connecticut River Valley in Outdoor Journal’s 14th season.
ROCHESTER—“Outdoor Journal,” Vermont PBS’ venerable outdoor program, kicks off its 14th season Tuesday, Jan. 26, with stories that take viewers across the length and breadth of the northeast region. Hosts Lawrence Pyne and Gina Bullard explore the outdoors with an infectious sense of curiosity as they introduce us to an array of outdoor adventures–from way down under to way up yonder.
On tap for the new season: we’ll get a fish-eye view as we snorkel Vermont’s White River in Rochester; Lawrence hooks into largemouth bass in Berlin Pond and chases world-class brown trout in upstate New York. Gina takes to the skies on a hang gliding adventure over the Connecticut River Valley, goes skeet shooting in Morrisville and goes on a geocaching treasure hunt in central Vermont.
Weekly conservation segments feature efforts to restore lake sturgeon in Lake Champlain and improve stream habitat for brook trout and cover local classroom efforts that emphasize the importance of habitat and wildlife conservation. “My Outdoor Journal” segments also continue this season as viewers share stories on kayaking Waterbury Reservoir, hiking Haystack Mountain and an archery moose hunt.
Five new episodes will be shown Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., beginning Jan. 26. Episodes repeat Saturdays at 9 a.m. and can be viewed online anytime at vermontpbs.org/outdoorjournal.
