Silver jewelry making class offered at Carving Studio and Sculpture Center

Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. — WEST RUTLAND — The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center is pleased to announce the return of popular instructor Michael Stimpfel with a six-week evening workshop in silver jewelry making. The class will be held Thursdays from 6 – 8:30 p.m., Jan. 29 –  March 5.

Learn the basic techniques and fundamental skills that will enable you to design and create your own silver jewelry. Participants will make a simple ring, a pair of triple hoop earrings and a bracelet. These three projects will involve design, layout, metal properties, tools including jeweler’s saw and pliers, cold-working metal techniques and silver wire and sheet soldering.

Michael Stimpfel is a goldsmith with over 35 years of jewelry making experience, having operated a retail jewelry store in downtown Rutland, while teaching a number of apprentice goldsmiths during this time.
