Shir Shalom seminar explores biblical mysteries, in memory of Chickie Rosenberg

WOODSTOCK — Woodstock Area Jewish Community Congregation Shir Shalom welcomes scholar-in-residence Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman, currently Rabbi of the Jewish Center of the Hamptons and previous president of Hebrew Union College-Institute of Religion, who will lead a series of thought-provoking sessions entitled “Revealing Some Mysteries of the Bible.”
On Friday, June 24 from 6-7 p.m., join the session “Mysteries in the Bible? What Mysteries?”, followed by Shabbat worship and Oneg Shabbat.
On Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., the series explores “Am I my Brother’s Keeper? Does the Torah give an Answer?” From 1:30-3 p.m., explore the second session of the day: “Let There Be Light: Whatever Happened to that Light?”
On Sunday, June 26 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., a brunch will be held. To concluding session is “Love the Stranger: Is this the most Important Mitzvah in the Torah?”
Rabbi Zimmerman has a special gift, an ability to connect his teaching to contemporary issues, problems, and challenges. He is known to make those listening feel a personal connection as he discusses subjects to which they can readily relate.
