Share the Warmth clothing drive offers free clothing to those in need

Oct. 10 and 11 — WEST PAWLET — The eighth year of the Share the Warmth clothing drive will be held at the Mettawee Community School, 5788 VT Route 153, in West Pawlet on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m both days. First come, first served. Please bring your own shopping bags.

Imagine walking into a gymnasium packed full of over 25,000 pieces of clothing. Now, imagine that these are all free for the taking, for anyone! You don’t have to imagine this scenario because at Share the Warmth, this is what happens.

Because of the monumental task of organizing this many items, please try to sort clothes by season and then label the bags. All seasons are welcome, but there is a huge demand for fall and winter. Clothing donations may be new or used, but should be clean, stain-free clothing: babies through adult, any season of outerwear, footwear, hats, accessories, suits and Halloween costumes.

Donations will be taken Thursday, Oct. 8 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 9, any time before 4 p.m., at the school.

If you wish to donate, but are unable to get there, or have any questions about the event, please contact Brooke Burnham at 802-342-6377.
