‘Santaland Diaries’ offers adult-oriented cheer

Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.—RANDOLPH—Looking for something a little different to celebrate the season?  Something that doesn’t involve shopping, or extended family, but does provide a well-deserved relaxing evening full of Santa-worthy belly laughs? The “Santaland Diaries” may offer the magic sleigh ride you’ve been looking for.

It’s often the case that the holidays are focused on children, commercialism, chaos and the stress that those three can induce when mixed. Humorist David Sedaris wrote about the downside of this sort of overly-merchandized holiday joy in a collection of stories based on his experiences as a Macy’s department store elf named Crumpet.

Strapped for cash, a struggling actor takes a job as “Crumpet the Elf” at Macy’s Santaland. His hilarious observations are more naughty than nice. Brimming with Sedaris’ wicked humor and observations, this snarky holiday tale is perfect for those who prefer their eggnog spiked.

Tickets are $30. Wine will be available for purchase from Lucky Bugger Winery. The Chandler Center for the Arts is located at 71 N. Main St. in Randolph. For questions about the performance please contact the director, Margo Whitcomb at 802-349-3045 or margonomy@gmail.com.
