Fundraiser nets over $6,500 for Rutland County

RUTLAND—On Thursday, June 2, at Southside Steakhouse in Rutland, the United Way of Rutland County presented “It’s in the Bag,” a new event featuring a live and silent auction of bags of all kinds, from designer purses to lunch bags to beach totes. The event was very well received, netting over $6,500 for United Way of Rutland County, according to a June 8 press release.
Proceeds from the evening will be counted as part of the 2016-17 campaign and will support United Way educational partners serving local youth, such as Foxcroft Farm Harvest Program, Rutland County Head Start, the Mentor Connector, the Rutland Area Prevention Coalition and Green Mountain Foster Grandparent Program.
The committee has ideas to make the event bigger and even better in 2017.
The United Way of Rutland County, started in 1943, identifies needs and facilitates solutions through community collaborations. For more information visit www.uwrutlandcounty.org.
