Rupert Wates performs at Brandon Music
Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. — BRANDON — Rupert Wates has been described by FAME Musical Shoals as “one gifted s.o.b.” The singer-songwriter plays live at Brandon Music on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Originally from London, Wates has been in the U.S. since 2006, where he has won more than 30 songwriting awards, was voted an “Artist Of The Year 2013” by the international house concert network Concerts In Your Home, and in 2015 he was recognized as the network’s most booked performer, having secured over 100 dates through their website.
Audiences everywhere respond to Rupert Wates’ brand of melodic art/folk—haunting songs that ring true. Despite his British background, and underpinning the universality of his music’s appeal, Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange has called him “a prime figure in American music.”
Wates has released seven well-reviewed solo CDs with tracks being played on radio all over the world. He continues to write songs for others. When still in England he worked as a full time songwriter for Eaton Music Limited, with his songs being recorded by artists in London, Denver and Nashville. He averages 150 live shows every year in acoustic venues in every state in America, in Canada and in Europe. His music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz and vaudeville.
Leith FM Radio Scotland says Rupert is “an inspirational artist” who writes “truly gripping lyrics with great themes and troubling, witty messages.”
Concert tickets are $20. A pre-concert dinner is also available for $20. Reservations are recommended for the show and required for dinner. Venue is BYOB. Call 802-247-4295 or email [email protected] for reservations or more information. Brandon Music is located at 62 Country Club Road, Brandon.
