Rotary adds corporate membership program

RUTLAND — The Rotary Club of Rutland has expanded its membership options to include corporate memberships. Rutland Regional Medical Center is the first organization to participate in this program.

Rotary will welcome a chief executive officer or president of a corporation as an honorary member. Attendance is voluntary, since time constraints may prevent regular attendance at weekly meetings. No initiation fee is charged and no annual dues are charged, although an annual contribution to the Rotary International Foundation is encouraged.

Corporate members will additionally benefit with logo presence as sponsors of the Rotary Club of Rutland, on club publications, advertisements, the club e-newsletter, social media, promotions and fundraising material. The firm will also be offered an opportunity to share a club speaker spotlight at least once annually.

Club president Dr. Mark Price explained: “The primary motivation of this innovative plan is to enable senior leaders of regional organizations to increase the awareness of the social and civic concerns of their firm by a membership affiliation with Rotary.” Rotary also benefits by developing closer relationships with the great businesses in the community.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are over 1.2 million Rotarians in over 34,000 clubs around the world. The six areas of focus include promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education and growing local economies.

President Price said the Rotary Club of Rutland has been serving the Rutland community for almost 100 years. “We are planning our centennial commemoration with support of several community projects. In fact, last week our Board of Directors approved a $10,000 gift toward the purchase of fencing at the proposed Baxter Street park playground.”
