Mill River Union High School and Rochester School (pre-K through 12) will welcome new principals next year as Andy Pomeroy and Cathy Knight have recently announced that they will be stepping down from their respective schools.
“As many of you know I have been driving 90 minutes one way to get to school from our home in Brownsville, Vermont,” Knight wrote to students, parents, and families of the Rochester “Rockets” School Community in a blog post Sunday, Dec. 20.
Knight submitted her letter of resignation to the School Board Tuesday.
“I look forward to finishing the school year strong and collaborating with the staff on the many initiatives and programs that our school is participating in as we merge into the White River Valley Supervisory Union. I will miss the students terribly, but know that the outstanding staff will continue to provide the best education for our students. I personally want to thank all of you who have been collaborative and positive as we help our school be the best it can be,” Knight concluded.
Andy Pomeroy informed the Mill River School Board that he would not return for his seventh year in October. June 30 will also be his last day. However, a candidate to take over as principal has already been identified, according to Rutland South Supervisory Union Superintendent David Younce. The board plans to announce Mill River’s new principal late January or early February.
