Red Bull slides in to Killington

Maggie Leon heads back up for more.

The Red Bull Slide-in Tour stopped by The Beast of the East as part of a nine-day road trip through the center of Vermont, covering the entire vertical length of the state, up historic Route 100 on March 9-10.

The roster included Winter X Games gold medalist Zeb Powell, a staple of the tour since its inception. Back for the second time were Miles Fallon and Vermont native and snowboard phenom Maggie Leon, who joined the tour in 2020. The crew is purposely diverse — Powell is Black, Fallon is of Asian descent and of course, Leon is a woman. This is another important part of the Slide-in Tour mission, to promote diversity on the slopes.

Zeb Powell carves by one of the features, wearing his new signature outerwear line from ThirtyTwo. Powell was taking it easy on Wednesday to preserve his health for the rest of the season.

According to Redbull.com, “The cast of characters will be shredding the less-than-perfect conditions and shining a light on the Vermont culture of die-hard riding no matter what the elements bring.”

However, their visit to Killington was marked with blue skies, bright sun and warm temperatures, enabling the crew to truly take advantage of the top-notch freestyle facilities at Woodward Killington.

Leon tail presses a feature. The Redbull rails remain open on Bear Mountain for all to ride.

“It was really sick to be able to show everyone around my home mountain, Killington.” Leon said. “With bluebird skies and warm weather, the conditions couldn’t have been any better.  It was hard to hop on the road and move onto our next stop. I am bummed the tour is already over, can’t wait for next year.”
