Police report fatal motorcycle accident

On Sept. 18, 2015, the Vermont State Police, Pittsford Fire Department, and Regional Ambulance Service were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 7 in Pittsford.
As a result of the crash, a section of Route 7 was closed for approximately six hours, and traffic was diverted around the incident while the initial investigation took place.
Shane Goodrich, 28, of Rutland, was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, and Bryan Greene, 43, of Leicester, was driving a 1983 Honda Shadow motorcycle. Initial investigation concluded the vehicles collided head-on. Goodrich was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, and Greene was pronounced dead at the scene.
After a thorough investigation with the assistance of the crash reconstruction team, the state police determined and announced on April 26 that Goodrich was at fault for the crash, when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with Greene’s motorcycle. Goodrich has been charged with Gross Negligent Operation, Death Resulting and has been issued a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court; Criminal Division on May 9, 2016.
