Okemo partners with Green Mountain Railroad to offer scenic train rides

LUDLOW—Starting Sept. 17, Okemo Mountain Resort and the Green Mountain Railroad are partnering to offer a new way for visitors to enjoy Vermont’s spectacular fall foliage. The call of “All aboard!” will be heard at the historic Chester Depot as scenic excursions to Okemo’s Jackson Gore prepare to depart for a journey past rushing rivers, picturesque farms and hillsides bursting with autumn colors.
The Green Mountain Railroad is one of five short-line railroads that make up the Vermont Rail System. A privately owned and operated rail line that runs throughout Vermont and upstate New York, this railroad delivers freight to local businesses and transports passengers on scenic tours throughout the Green Mountain State.
Three generations of dedicated railroaders make the passenger experience nothing short of enjoyable.
Shuttle buses will depart from the stone archway at Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn one hour prior to train departure and deliver passengers to the Chester Depot for their one-way train ride back to Jackson Gore.
Trains will depart at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 17-Oct. 9. Tickets may be purchased at the Jackson Gore Resort Services Desk. The fare is $25 for passengers 13 and older, $20 for ages 3 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger.
