Mogul’s 20th annual pig roast raises thousands for charity

KILLINGTON — On Sunday, April 19, from 1-9 p.m. Robert “Sal” Salmeri hosted the 20th annual pig roast at Moguls Sports Pub. Donations of $10 donation for adults and $5 kids 12 and under helped raise thousands of dollars for Meals on Wheels in Rutland, an organization that delivers about 1,000 meals a day to needy elderly persons in southwest Vermont, and the Humane Society. The officially tally had not yet been announced as of press time, but pass event have raised upwards of $3,000.

DJ Dave Hoffenberg, who emceed the event, said, “It was the busiest I’ve ever seen it,” adding, “The weather was beautiful. Lots of families came out and the music was awesome.”

Entry to the party gave attendees access to all the food they could eat, live entertainment, plus giveaways. Joining Hoffenberg were bands Soul Tsunami, Supply & Demand, Andy Lugo, and Rick Redington and the Luv. The event also marked the final day Mogul’s was open for the winter season. Salmeri will reopen in June.
