MNFF announces Split/Screen online movie series

The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival [MNFF] and the Vermont International Film Festival [VTIFF] are partnering to present Split/Screen, an exciting online monthly movie series that begins in November 2020 and runs through June 2021.  The two festivals will each curate a selection of four or five films in alternating months, with MNFF leading off in November and VTIFF then presenting a December program and so forth into the new year.  The festivals are promoting Split/Screen on their respective websites where detailed information and film previews are available, along with opportunities to purchase both monthly Passes and individual tickets.

Split/Screen will kick off Nov. 20-29 with an MNFF-curated documentary program that embraces the gathering of families during Thanksgiving with a broadly appealing selection of films:

“The Booksellers” – a lively tour of New York’s book world, populated by an assortment of obsessives, intellects, eccentrics and dreamers, past and present.

“Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind” – the legendary Canadian musical icon explores his career, his music and the influences that propelled him.

“Mountain” – From Tibet to Australia, Alaska to Norway, witness an astonishing assemblage of mountaineers, ice climbers, free soloists, heliskiers, snowboarders, wingsuiters and parachuting mountain bikers.

“Through The Night”  – a powerful and moving film that explores the personal cost of our modern economy through the stories of two working mothers and a childcare provider—whose lives intersect at a 24-hour daycare center.

VTIFF will present the next Split/Screen film program from Dec. 18-27 with specific films to be announced in early December.

Monthly passes for Split/Screen will be $40, entitling you to watch all the films that month, and individual tickets will be sold for $12.50.  Visit middfilmfest.org/split-screen for descriptions and trailers for the November films, easy to use pass and ticket purchasing opportunities and how to watch information.  Split/Screen films will be hosted by the secure premium online platform CineSend, used successfully by hundreds of MNFF6: online attendees, and will be viewable on a wide array of devices including mobile, tablet, laptop and big screen televisions.
