Man injured after accident with gun while babysitting small children

BRIDGEWATER—On Oct. 10, at about 10:43 p.m., troopers from the Royalton Barracks responded to a residence on Route 4, in Bridgewater, Vt., for a report of a firearm discharge with injury. Investigation revealed that Colton Slivka, age 26 of Bridgewater, was babysitting two small children, aged 2 and 1 years old, when he discharged his firearm accidentally. The round struck one of his hands, ricocheted off the floor and exited the residence through a sliding door. The two children were upstairs sleeping at the time of the incident and were uninjured. Slivka transported himself to the emergency room, prior to troopers’ arrival. Slivka was cited into Windsor County Superior Court, Criminal Division on Dec. 22 to answer to the charge of reckless endangerment.
