‘Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art’ streaming Jan. 21-24

An American crime documentary about the largest art fraud in American history

WOODSTOCK—Billings Farm & Museum’s 11th annual Woodstock Vermont Film Series features true crime drama with “Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art.” The film tells the fascinating story of how M. Knoedler & Co., one of the most respected art galleries in New York City, became the center stage for the largest art fraud in American history. The gallery made millions selling previously unseen works by Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, and others that had supposedly come from a secret collection. But when prestigious clients discovered they had purchased fakes; the scandal rocked the art world. Former director Ann Freedman and alleged mastermind of the fraud, José Carlos Bergantiños Diaz, participated in the making of the documentary.

“Made You Look” is available for streaming in the comfort of your home Jan. 21-24. The Woodstock Vermont Film Series is produced by Billings Farm & Museum with generous support from local sponsors. Lead sponsors include the Woodstock Inn & Resort and the Ellaway Group.
