Killington Active Seniors to hold picnic

By Gerrie Russell

Thursday, Aug. 13 — KILLINGTON — Members of a local group called Killington Active Seniors are frequently found at the new Adventure Center, playing a round of golf or doing water aerobics at Pico. They go to Disney World, cruise the open seas and enjoy European travel. Some are interested in politics, serving on various boards and commissions in Killington. Many volunteer, are well-read and talented and all love to have fun. All seniors are welcome to join the group.

This Thursday, Aug. 13, the KAS will host its annual summer potluck picnic at 4 p.m. at the Johnson Recreation Center on River Road in Killington. Hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages will be provided and everyone is invited to bring a salad or dessert. After the picnic, the group will travel to the Sherburne Memorial Library and enjoy the regular Thursday’s outdoor concert this week featuring Samirah Evans and her Handsome Devils Band. So bring a chair and probably a nice warm sweatshirt, after all, it is summer in Vermont. For more information call Andy Salamon at 422-9244.

Every Wednesday at 12-noon, the Killington Active Seniors gather for lunch at the Lookout Bar and Grill at the invitation of owners Phil and Joy Black, who graciously prepare and serve with a smile. It has been noted that Joy Black probably has never served the same menu twice! For more information call Mike Young 422-4248.

Upcoming

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, after lunch at the Lookout, Kelly Stoddard-Poor, who is associated with AARP and is responsible for state and community development in the state of Vermont, will speak to the group on various topics including aging in place, walkability in Killington, home fit guide and the village to village network. For more information call Gerrie Russell at 422- 2921.
