Kickoff event for the 20th anniversary Walk to Defeat ALS celebrated virtually

Some 2019 participants smile after completing Walk to Defeat ALS. This year the event will take place virtually.

Thursday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. —The ALS Association Northern New England Chapter is excited to announce its 2020 Vermont kickoff event for the 20th anniversary Walk to Defeat ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Gathering in person this year won’t be possible, so the association has a fun and engaging virtual event planned.

Please join virtually on Thursday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m. for drinks, food pairings, and live music. Special guest Scott Fleishman of WCAV-TV will be joining as emcee. A guest musician will also be playing special song requests received before the event.

“During this crisis, our Vermont ALS families need our support more than ever,” said Jacqueline Heltz, who has volunteered with the ALS Association first in honor, and later in memory, of her grandmother for almost 20 years. “We’re happy that we’re still able to connect with the ALS community throughout Vermont, and it’s possible because of the support and dedication of many that we’re able to do so.”

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more details about local farm and drink partnerships, as well as more information about fun activities planned. For more information, or to RSVP, please contact Karrie Boskee at kboskee@alsanne.org or 603-856-8072.

They also hope you’ll join in your own home or neighborhood on Saturday, Sept. 26 for the 2020 Walk to Defeat ALS. They’ll be live streaming various locations during the walk and doing giveaways throughout for people to tune into. For more information and to register, visit web.alsa.org/Vermont2020.
