Kamikaze Comedy returns to Chandler, live and upstairs

Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.—RANDOLPH—Kamikaze Comedy will return to Chandler’s Upper Gallery on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.  Come “laugh your darn face off” with this Burlington based improv troupe. This wonderful comedy troupe has been performing together since 1995, creating outrageous characters, over-the-top stories, and games that involve the whole crowd for an evening of hilarity.

In response to the enthusiastic crowd at last year’s nearly sold-out Kamikaze show, Chandler has invited the troupe back for some interactive, hilarious entertainment.

Kamikaze Comedy was founded in Vermont in 1995, by co-founders Mourning Fox and Matt Saltus, and joined by Heather Caldera, Chris Jarvis, Rick Peck, and Mark Kuprych by 1997. During these 20 years the group has performed for audiences young and old all across Vermont and New England. They have used improvisation techniques to present workshops for ages 8 to 80. Their workshops focus on improvisational comedy and theater technique, as well as team building, public speaking and communication skills.

Not only are the members of Kamikaze well-versed performers who have honed their on-stage skills, but they are constantly working on their collective goals. These include supporting and nurturing each other as artists and as a team, inspiring all Vermonters to try this empowering art form on stage and in their lives in the community, and to entertain audiences in a personal and always brand new way each show.

For this show, Kamikaze plans on an interactive stage presentation that uses no script, save for simple scene structures, or games. These foundations are given direction and inspiration through interaction with the audience. Together, the audience and troupe spin theme suggestions into unique, one-time-only sketches throughout the performance. Over the years, Kamikaze has noticed that when audience members feel comfortable with one another, they are freer to laugh. They are bolder to make suggestions, and less intimidated to volunteer to join Kamikaze on stage.

Tickets are available by calling the Chandler box office Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m. at 802-728-6464.

Chandler Music Hall is fully accessible and equipped for the hearing impaired. It is located at 71-73 Main Street, Randolph. For more info, visit chandler-arts.org.
